Description

Air fryer meatloaf is a ground meat mixture shaped into a loaf and cooked using circulating hot air. The air fryer not only speeds up the cooking process but also ensures an even cook throughout. The result is a classic meatloaf that’s juicy inside, with a lightly caramelized crust outside—just like oven-baked, but quicker and easier.

Ingredients

  • Ground beef (1 lb / 450 g) – provides the base flavor; 80/20 ratio works best.

  • Breadcrumbs (½ cup) – helps bind the meatloaf and keeps it light.

  • Milk (¼ cup) – adds moisture.

  • Egg (1 large) – binds the mixture together.

  • Onion (½ cup, finely chopped) – adds sweetness and texture.

  • Garlic powder (1 tsp) – enhances flavor.

  • Worcestershire sauce (1 tbsp) – adds depth and savory notes.

  • Salt and black pepper (to taste) – essential for seasoning.

  • Ketchup (¼ cup, for glaze) – caramelizes beautifully on top.

  • Brown sugar (1 tbsp, optional) – balances the acidity of the ketchup glaze.

Instructions

  • Preheat air fryer – set to 375°F (190°C) for 5 minutes.

  • Mix ingredients – in a bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, onion, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.

  • Shape into loaf – form into a compact loaf shape and place on parchment paper or in an air fryer-safe loaf pan.

  • Cook meatloaf – air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 25 minutes.

  • Add glaze – spread ketchup (mixed with brown sugar if using) over the top.

  • Finish cooking – return to air fryer and cook for another 8–10 minutes, until internal temp reaches 160°F (71°C).

  • Rest before slicing – let it rest for 5 minutes to lock in juices.
