Description

Jamie Oliver’s Air Fryer Flatbread is a simple bread made from flour, yogurt, and a pinch of baking powder. The air fryer allows the bread to cook quickly and evenly, giving it a lovely golden color with a soft, fluffy texture. This recipe is perfect for when you want fresh bread but don’t want to use the oven.

Ingredients

For the Flatbread:

  • Self-raising flour (200g): Provides a light, fluffy texture.
  • Greek yogurt (200g): Adds moisture, tang, and richness.
  • Baking powder (1/2 tsp): Adds extra lift, especially if using plain flour.
  • Salt (a pinch): Enhances the flavor of the flatbread.

Optional Add-Ins:

  • Garlic powder (1/2 tsp): For a garlic flavor.
  • Chopped fresh herbs (such as parsley or rosemary): Adds freshness and color.
  • Olive oil (for brushing): Gives a golden finish and enhances flavor.

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Dough

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the self-raising flour, Greek yogurt, baking powder, and salt.
  • Mix until a dough forms, then knead it lightly on a floured surface until smooth. If the dough is sticky, add a little more flour as needed.

Step 2: Divide and Shape the Dough

  • Divide the dough into 4 equal portions and roll each portion into a ball.
  • Using a rolling pin, roll each ball out into a flat round, about 1/4 inch thick.

Step 3: Preheat the Air Fryer

  • Preheat your air fryer to 180°C (350°F) for a few minutes to ensure even cooking.

Step 4: Cook the Flatbreads

  • Place one or two flatbreads (depending on the size of your air fryer) in the air fryer basket.
  • Cook for 5-6 minutes or until the flatbreads are golden and puffed up. Flip halfway through for even browning.
  • Repeat with the remaining flatbreads.

Step 5: Brush with Olive Oil (Optional)

  • For extra flavor and a golden finish, brush the warm flatbreads with olive oil and sprinkle with herbs, garlic powder, or sea salt if desired.

Step 6: Serve Warm

  • Serve the flatbreads warm, with dips like hummus, tzatziki, or as a side with your favorite meal.
