Description
Nigella Chocolate Pots are small, rich desserts made from chocolate, cream, and a hint of flavoring, all melted together to create a silky, smooth texture. They are typically served in small pots or ramekins, making them an elegant finish to any meal. The intense chocolate flavor is perfectly balanced with the creaminess, making these pots a favorite for chocolate lovers.
Ingredients
Scale
- 150g (5.3 oz) dark chocolate (at least 70% cocoa solids): Provides a rich, intense chocolate flavor.
- 300ml (10.1 fl oz) double cream: Adds a luxurious creaminess to the dessert.
- 1 tbsp sugar: Just a touch of sweetness to balance the bitterness of the dark chocolate.
- 1 tsp vanilla extract: Enhances the overall flavor with a subtle note of vanilla.
- 2 tbsp hot water: Helps to melt the chocolate and create a smooth texture.
- Pinch of salt: Balances the flavors and enhances the chocolate taste.
Instructions
- Melt the Chocolate: Start by breaking the dark chocolate into small pieces and placing them in a heatproof bowl. Set the bowl over a pan of simmering water (making sure the bowl doesn’t touch the water) and stir until the chocolate is completely melted.
- Heat the Cream: In a small saucepan, gently heat the double cream with the sugar over medium heat until it’s just about to boil. Remove from heat as soon as you see bubbles forming around the edges.
- Combine Chocolate and Cream: Slowly pour the hot cream over the melted chocolate, whisking continuously until you achieve a smooth, glossy mixture.
- Add Flavorings: Stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt to enhance the flavor. If the mixture seems too thick, add the hot water one tablespoon at a time, stirring until you reach the desired consistency.
- Pour into Pots: Divide the chocolate mixture evenly between the ramekins or small serving pots. Tap the pots gently on the counter to remove any air bubbles and to level the surface.
- Chill the Pots: Place the pots in the fridge for at least 2 hours, or until they’re set and ready to serve.
- Serve and Enjoy: Serve the Nigella Chocolate Pots chilled, optionally topped with a dollop of whipped cream, fresh berries, or a sprinkle of cocoa powder for added flair.
