Description

Jamie Oliver’s Chicken Mince Burger is a healthy and delicious burger made from minced chicken, fresh herbs, breadcrumbs, and seasonings. Unlike store-bought versions, this homemade burger is free from artificial additives, allowing you to control the flavors and texture.

Ingredients

For the Chicken Patties

  • Chicken Mince (500g) – The main protein source, lean and full of flavor.
  • Breadcrumbs (50g) – Helps bind the mixture and maintain moisture.
  • Egg (1, beaten) – Acts as a binding agent.
  • Garlic (2 cloves, minced) – Adds depth of flavor.
  • Fresh Parsley (2 tbsp, chopped) – Enhances the freshness.
  • Paprika (1 tsp) – Adds a mild smoky flavor.
  • Salt and Black Pepper (to taste)
  • Olive Oil (for cooking)

For the Burger Assembly

  • Burger Buns (4, lightly toasted) – Choose brioche or whole wheat.
  • Lettuce Leaves – Adds freshness and crunch.
  • Tomato Slices (1 large, sliced) – Adds juiciness.
  • Red Onion (1 small, thinly sliced) – Provides a sharp bite.
  • Mayonnaise (4 tbsp) – For creaminess.
  • Mustard or Ketchup (optional, to taste)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the chicken mixture

In a large mixing bowl, combine the minced chicken, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, minced garlic, chopped parsley, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until evenly combined.

Step 2: Shape the patties

Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each into a round patty, slightly larger than the burger bun (as they shrink while cooking).

Step 3: Cook the patties

Heat a drizzle of olive oil in a non-stick frying pan over medium heat. Cook the chicken patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and fully cooked. The internal temperature should reach 75°C (165°F).

Step 4: Assemble the burgers

Toast the burger buns lightly. Spread a layer of mayonnaise on the bottom half of each bun. Place a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked chicken patty. Add tomato slices, red onion, and any additional condiments like mustard or ketchup. Top with the other half of the bun.

Step 5: Serve and enjoy

Serve immediately with fries, coleslaw, or a fresh salad.
