Description

Air fryer chicken thighs are marinated or seasoned chicken thighs cooked in an air fryer. The high-powered circulation of hot air ensures the chicken cooks evenly while achieving a crispy skin, mimicking traditional frying without excess oil. Jamie Oliver’s approach focuses on simple seasoning and quick preparation, making it both healthy and delicious.

Ingredients

  • Chicken thighs (bone-in, skin-on, 4 pieces): For juicy, flavorful results.
  • Olive oil (1 tablespoon): Helps the seasoning stick and promotes crispiness.
  • Paprika (1 teaspoon): Adds smoky flavor and color.
  • Garlic powder (1 teaspoon): Enhances the savory taste.
  • Dried thyme (1 teaspoon): Optional, for a herby flavor.
  • Salt and pepper: To taste, for seasoning.

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the chicken

  • Pat the chicken thighs dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  • Place the chicken in a mixing bowl.

Step 2: Season the chicken

  • Drizzle the olive oil over the chicken thighs.
  • Sprinkle paprika, garlic powder, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  • Toss the chicken to coat evenly in the seasoning.

Step 3: Preheat the air fryer

  • Preheat your air fryer to 200°C (400°F) for 3–5 minutes.

Step 4: Cook the chicken

  • Place the chicken thighs in the air fryer basket, skin side up, ensuring they do not overlap.
  • Cook at 200°C (400°F) for 18–20 minutes, flipping halfway through for even cooking.

Step 5: Check doneness

  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure the chicken’s internal temperature reaches 75°C (165°F).

Step 6: Serve

  • Let the chicken rest for 2–3 minutes before serving to lock in the juices.
