Description

Jamie Oliver’s Air Fryer Fish is a straightforward recipe that involves seasoning fish fillets, coating them in breadcrumbs, and cooking them in an air fryer until golden and crispy. This method is fast, reduces the amount of oil used, and results in delicious, flaky fish.

Ingredients

For the Fish:

  • White fish fillets (4, such as cod, haddock, or tilapia): Provides a mild, flaky base.
  • Olive oil (1-2 tbsp): Adds moisture and helps the breadcrumbs stick.
  • Salt and black pepper (to taste): Seasoning for flavor.
  • Garlic powder (1/2 tsp): Adds subtle flavor to the fish.
  • Paprika (1/2 tsp): Adds color and a mild smoky flavor.

For the Coating:

  • Breadcrumbs (1 cup, preferably Panko for extra crispiness): Provides a light, crispy coating.
  • Fresh parsley (1 tbsp, chopped): Adds color and a touch of herbaceous flavor.
  • Lemon zest (zest of 1 lemon): Adds brightness to the coating.

Optional Dipping Sauce:

  • Tartar sauce: Classic pairing for fish.
  • Lemon wedges: Add a fresh, tangy flavor when squeezed over the cooked fish.

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Breadcrumb Mixture

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, fresh parsley, and lemon zest. Stir well to evenly distribute the ingredients.

Step 2: Season the Fish

  • Pat the fish fillets dry with paper towels. Brush each fillet lightly with olive oil on both sides.
  • Season the fish fillets with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.

Step 3: Coat the Fish

  • Press each fillet into the breadcrumb mixture, coating both sides evenly. Gently press the breadcrumbs onto the fish to ensure they stick.

Step 4: Preheat the Air Fryer

  • Preheat your air fryer to 200°C (390°F) for a few minutes to ensure even cooking.

Step 5: Cook the Fish

  • Place the coated fish fillets in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Avoid overlapping to ensure even crisping.
  • Cook at 200°C (390°F) for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the fish is golden brown and flakes easily with a fork.

Step 6: Serve

  • Remove the fish from the air fryer and serve immediately with lemon wedges and optional tartar sauce for dipping.
