Jamie Oliver Flatbread With Yogurt

Jamie Oliver Flatbread With Yogurt

Jamie Oliver’s flatbread recipe is an easy, no-yeast bread made with plain yogurt and self-rising flour. The dough comes together quickly and is cooked in a hot pan, creating a golden, slightly crispy exterior with a soft, chewy interior. These flatbreads are perfect for beginners and can be customized with herbs, spices, or toppings.

Ingredients

  • Self-rising flour (250g): The leavening agent is already in the flour.
  • Plain yogurt (150g): Adds moisture and tanginess to the bread.
  • Salt (a pinch): Enhances the flavor of the flatbread.
  • Olive oil (optional): For brushing the cooked flatbreads, if desired.

Instructions

Step 1: Make the dough

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the self-rising flour and a pinch of salt.
  • Add the yogurt and mix until a rough dough forms.

Step 2: Knead the dough

  • Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for 2–3 minutes until smooth and soft.

Step 3: Divide and shape

  • Divide the dough into 6 equal portions and roll each into a ball.
  • Flatten each ball with a rolling pin or your hands to create flat rounds, about ½ cm thick.

Step 4: Cook the flatbreads

  • Heat a dry frying pan or skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Cook each flatbread for 1–2 minutes per side, or until puffed up and golden brown.

Step 5: Serve warm

  • Brush with olive oil, if desired, and serve immediately with your favorite dips, spreads, or toppings.
