Instructions

- Prepare the Dough: On a lightly floured surface, roll or stretch out your pizza dough to a 12-inch circle. Transfer it to a pizza peel or a flat, lightly oiled baking tray.
- Make the Tomato Sauce: In a mixing bowl, combine the crushed tomatoes, minced garlic, 1 tablespoon of olive oil, salt, and pepper. Stir well to blend the flavors.
- Pre-cook the Sausage (Optional): For extra flavor, lightly brown the sliced or crumbled Italian sausage in a pan with a drizzle of olive oil for 3-4 minutes until just starting to color. This step helps render some fat and intensify the flavor.
