Jamie Oliver Waffles Recipe

Jamie Oliver Waffles

Jamie Oliver’s waffles are classic, homemade waffles made with a batter of flour, eggs, milk, and a hint of vanilla. They’re cooked to perfection in a waffle iron, resulting in a versatile dish that can be topped with sweet or savory ingredients.

Ingredients

  • Plain Flour (250g): The base of the batter.
  • Baking Powder (2 tsp): Helps the waffles rise and stay fluffy.
  • Salt (a pinch): Balances the flavors.
  • Caster Sugar (2 tbsp): Adds a touch of sweetness.
  • Eggs (2 large): For structure and richness.
  • Milk (300ml): Creates a smooth batter.
  • Butter (75g, melted): Adds flavor and crispness.
  • Vanilla Extract (1 tsp): Optional, for a sweet aroma.

Optional Toppings

  • Fresh fruit (berries, bananas, or apples)
  • Maple syrup or honey
  • Whipped cream
  • Chocolate sauce
  • Savory options like avocado

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the batter

In a large mixing bowl, combine the plain flour, baking powder, salt, and caster sugar. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, whisking until a smooth batter forms.

Step 2: Preheat the waffle iron

Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Lightly grease it with cooking spray or a small amount of melted butter.

Step 3: Cook the waffles

Pour a ladleful of batter into the center of the waffle iron, spreading it evenly. Close the lid and cook for 4-5 minutes, or until the waffles are golden brown and crisp.

Step 4: Serve

Carefully remove the waffles from the iron and serve immediately with your favorite toppings. Repeat with the remaining batter.
