  • Pinch of salt
  • 150g (1 cup) milk or dark chocolate chips

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat your oven

  • Set oven to 180°C (160°C fan) / 350°F. Line baking trays with parchment paper.

Step 2: Cream the butter and sugars

  • In a mixing bowl, beat the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and creamy.

Step 3: Add egg and vanilla

  • Mix in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.

Step 4: Combine dry ingredients

  • Sift in the self-raising flour and add a pinch of salt. Mix to form a soft dough.

Step 5: Fold in chocolate chips

  • Stir the chocolate chips through the dough using a spatula or wooden spoon.

Step 6: Shape and space

  • Scoop tablespoon-sized balls onto the tray, leaving space for spreading.

Step 7: Bake to perfection

  • Bake for 10–12 minutes or until the edges are golden and the centers look set.
